Katrin Fridriks' new works include perspective studies of the "Stendhal Syndrome", "Crayons", and "Gene&Ethics" series, her signature works that her followers have enjoyed during her recent international showings.

The new pictorial process is emphasised by the enlargement of her colour drippings. She covers the canvases with a versatile colour splash, creating a zoom effect referring to the aesthetics of macrophotography, another interesting study of perspective and an innovative technical challenge for the Icelandic conceptual painter. Through this artistic continuum, which is being displayed exclusively at Art 13, London, the architectural dimensions of her abstract paintings declare Fridriks' interest for monumental works and 3D installations. She plays with the size, thickness and format of the canvases to create new dimensions in the perception of her works.

Born in Reykjavik (1974), Katrin Fridriks is a conceptual painter. She lives and works between Luxembourg and Paris. Fridriks fuses the natural energies of her native Iceland with a clever and unseen abstract expressionism, and Japanese calligraphy signs, filtered through conceptual installations. The substance of her work envelops space, shape, and time, looking for the innovation serving a concept, an idea, and a reflection.

Her colourful drippings and tint areas enliven the monochrome background space, giving the canvas a third dimension. Through their details and colours perfectly aligned, her explosions and twirling drippings denote outstanding technical skill. The essence of her unique visual language, emphasised by a tireless study on matter and technique, radiates from a self-taught character, partly inspired by the Expressionist master Jackson Pollock, the American architect John Portman, or the French art critic Pierre Restany.

Creating new perspectives, Fridriks' work brings an innovative dimension to abstraction.
